Iowa State Fairgrounds PINEGAR, LOGUE and CURTIS REPEAT

Heavy rains Friday could not stop racing action at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. During a great night of racing, three drivers repeated their victories from last week. Larry Pinegar won the sprint car feature, John Logue won the IMCA modified feature, and Steve Curtis won one of the two IMCA hobby stock features. Chris Smyser won the IMCA late model feature, David Cirksena won the IMCA stock car finale, and Mark Chance won the other hobby stock event.
Mike Fitzpatrick maneuvered his IMCA late model into the lead and led their first half of the 18-lap feature. He was unable to hold off the hard-charging Chris Smyser who went on to win the race. Fitzpatrick finished second with Ron Cochran third, and Mike Houseman fourth.
Larry Pinegar started his 360 sprint car on the front row and never looked back as he roared to victory. Doran Doty finished second, Bruce Davis third, and Tim St. Arnold was fourth.
In one of the most competitive races of the night, Pat Fagen jumped into the early lead of the IMCA modified feature. He was passed by Tim Folkerts on lap four. Folkerts was running strong, but so was John Logue, who started tenth, moved through the field. At the white flag lap, the two were running side by side and Logue finished the race in front. Kendall Sather finished third and Mark Allgood was fourth.
In the IMCA stock car feature, David Cirksena led all 12 laps to the checkered flag. Maynard Davis chased Cirksena for much of the race and had to settle for second. Bryan Nevins, who transferred to the feature from the consolation race, finished third after a hard run. Brian Edel was fourth.
Todd Paxson took the early lead in the first IMCA hobby stock feature. On lap 10, Mark Chance passed him for the lead and win. John Thoren finished third and Rusty Groves four. In the second hobby stock feature, Steve Curtis led the entire race followed by John Davis who was second. Rick Gladson was third and John Yaw Sr. was fourth
Racing in all classes continues next Friday with hot laps at 6:15 and racing at 7:00 P.M.
