Iowa State Fair:
Jackson, Davis and Hagen

by DAVID WILKINSON

Des Moines, Iowa -- It was season championship night at the Iowa State Fair
Thursday for IMCA modified,  stock cars, and hobby stocks.  Danny Wallace
claimed the IMCA modified points championship, Steve Jackson the IMCA stock
car championships, and John Davis won the IMCA hobby stock title.

In the IMCA stock car feature, pole-sitter Steve Jackson bobbled in turn two
of the first lap  giving Maynard Davis III the opportunity to move under him
for the lead.  Jackson chased Davis until lap six when Davis spun and brought
out the caution, giving Jackson the lead.  For the duration of caution-marred
15-lap race, Jackson was able to receive the checkered ahead of challengers
Paul Anderson, John Hunnell, and Rick Warden.  After the race, Brian Edel
claimed Jackson's engine.

Bill Davis Jr. led Danny Wallace and Dave Farren Sr. for all fifteen laps of
the IMCA modified feature.

Adam Hagen jumped into the lead from his front-row, outside position and led
flag-to-flag for the victory in the first IMCA hobby stock feature.  Mark
Chance finished second, John Gilbert was third, and John Davis was fourth.
After the race, Randy Bradshaw claimed the engine of Davis.

In the second hobby stock feature, John Yaw repeated Hagen's feat by leading
all laps from his outside, front-row starting spot.  Bill Bonnett was second,
Rick Gladson third, and John Pierick fourth.  After the race, John Thoren
claimed the Gladson's engine.

Racing at the Iowa State Fairgrounds will resume next April.
