Sunday, April 9, 2000 Pruitt Wins at Stuart by DAVID WILKINSON Stuart, Iowa (April 9) - Terry Pruitt narrowly beat Joe College in the first IMCA modified feature at the Stuart Speedway in the year 2000 on Sunday night as a good-sized crowd watched. College, starting on the pole, edged away Rex Parkison at the start of the race jumped into the lead with Pruitt following him. The two pulled away from the pack and exchanged the lead on laps eight and nine. Trying low first, then high, Pruitt looked for a way around College and found it on lap 18. A caution on the white flag lap caused a green, white, checkered restart. On the restart Kendall Sather vaulted from third by College and finished second behind Pruitt with College third. Dave Farren Sr. started in the sixth row and finished fourth. In the IMCA stock car feature, rookie Dan Sackett jumped into the lead and was running strong with Jeff Anderson chasing him. A yellow flag caused a restart of the fourth lap, Sackett slipped, allowing Anderson to pull into the lead and away from the pack. Anderson finished first followed by Tim Baker, David Cirksena, and Steve Jackson. After the race, Steve Campbell claimed the engine of Tim Baker. Cliff Barber ran away from the 22 other dwarf cars to receive the checkered. Finishing second was Shane Hunter with Randy Bryan third and Ed Zehm fourth. Randy Embrey won the IMCA hobby stock feature with John Watson in second, John Mallicoat in third, and Frank Grove in fourth. The duo of Renslow and Waddell won the cruiser feature. Racing continues in all classes next Sunday with gates opening at 4:30 P.M., hot laps at 6:15, followed by racing competition. The track phone is (515) 523-1319.
