STUART MAKE-UP FEATURES: Parkison, Jackson, Embrey, Wear, and Dennis
by DAVID WILKINSON
Racing action started early as features, delayed because of dangerous storms on May 16, were run. The winners were Rex Parkison (IMCA modified), Steve Jackson (IMCA stock car), Larry Embrey and Don Wear (IMCA hobby stocks),
In the IMCA modified feature, Dave Farren Sr. took the early lead, but left the race with equipment problems after four laps. Joe College inherited the lead and tried to hold off the challenge of Rex Parkison. On lap 17, Parkison moved past College and held on for the victory. Terry Pruitt was third and Rod Scheuermann was fourth.
David Cirksena vaulted into the lead of the IMCA stock car feature and had his big lead shorted because of caution flags. Steve Jackson started in the sixth row and had advanced to second by the halfway point of the race. Jackson kept the pressure on Cirksena and finally passed him at the start of the white-flag lap and claimed the winner's purse. Finishing behind them were Jeff Anderson and Bryan Nevins.
Larry Embrey started on the pole and led all 12 laps of the first IMCA hobby stock feature. Kerry Hayes finished second, Randy Embrey third, and Trevor Bindel was fourth. In the second hobby stock feature, Jack Allen led the first two laps until passed by Don Wear, the eventual winner. In second place was Keith Williamson, third was Bob Dennis, and Jim Wetzel was fourth.
The dwarf car feature started with Shane Hunter in the lead. Sam Allison passed him, but could not maintain the lead from the eventual winner, Rick Dennis. Hunter finished second, Ed Zehm was third, and Allison fourth

STUART REPEATERS: EMBREY AND WEAR by DAVID WILKINSON
The track improved as the night wore on as two sets of features were run at the Stuart Speedway. Don Wear and Larry Embrey each repeated wins as they both won the make-up and regular IMCA hobby stock features. (See the make-up story)
Joe McBirnie powered his IMCA modified into the lead and looked strong as he won the race. Joe College finished second, Dave Farren Sr. was third, and Terry Pruitt was fourth.
In the IMCA stock car feature, David Cirksena was the early leader, but he was no match for Jeff Anderson, who started tenth. Anderson, as part of a spirited drive, move through the field and took the lead on lap five. He won easily and was chased by Cirksena, Joe College, and Steve Jackson.
The first IMCA hobby stock feature was dominated by Larry Embrey and second-place finisher Keith Williamson as they lapped several cars. Brett Smith finished third and Trevor Bindel was fourth. In the second feature, Kerry Hayes bolted into the lead. However, halfway through the 12-lap race, Don Wear passed Hayes and then took the checkered. Hayes was second with Dave McDonald third and Jay Schimdt fourth.
Ed Zehm passed Shane Hunter on lap four of the dwarf car feature and went on to win. Hunter finished second , Mike Morrill third and Gale Hevelone fourth.
In a wild two-person cruiser feature, the victory went to Francis Schafer and Josh Gilman
Racing continues in all classes next Sunday with gates opening at 4:30 P.M., hot laps at 6:15, and competition at 7:00.
