STUART
Pruitt, Cirksena, & Barber Again
by DAVID WILKINSON
Stuart, Iowa -- Three drivers (Terry Pruitt in his IMCA modified, David
Cirksena in his IMCA stock car, and Cliff Barber in his dwarf car) won their
second feature this season on Sunday at Stuart Speedway. Curt Smith and
Chris Pruitt won IMCA hobby stock features and the cruiser feature was
captured by Curt Ganoe and Shawn Phippen.
All 20 laps of the IMCA feature were run without a caution with three
leaders. Jeff James led the early laps until passed by John Mylan, who was
passed by the victor Terry Pruitt. Mylan finished second, Dave Farren Sr.
was third, and Dave Farren Jr. fourth.
Jerry McElderry jumped into the lead of the IMCA stock car main, but David
Cirksena passed him on lap three restart and was able to hold off the
challenge of Steve Jackson to gain the win. Jackson was second, Joe College
third, and Monty Knode finished fourth.
In the dwarf car feature, Cliff Barber moved by Rick Dennis for the lead and
was never challenged. Barber finished second, Todd Shute third, and Rob
Edwards was fourth.
The first IMCA hobby stock was won by Curt Smith who took the lead from Dave
McDonald with only three laps to go. Finishing behind him were Larry Embrey,
Randy Embrey, and Jim Wetzel. In the second feature, Chris Pruitt lunged
past Frank Grove on turn four of the last lap for the victory. Following
them were Mike Albertson in third and Blain Peterson in fourth. After the
race, Todd Cooper claimed Albertson’s engine.
The duo of Curt Ganoe and Shawn Phippen won the cruiser feature.
Racing continues in all classes next Sunday with gates opening at 4:30 P.M.,
hot laps at 6:15, and competition at 7:00.
