Sunday, July 23, 2000STUART WINNERS: FARREN, SACKETT, WEAR AND MORGAN
By DAVID WILKINSON
Stuart, Iowa (July 23, 2000) -- Dave Farren Sr. acquired his third IMCA modified win of the year Sunday at the Stuart Speedway. Other IMCA class winners were Dan Sackett in stock cars and Don Wear in hobby stocks. Bob Morgan collected the dwarf car feature and the duo of Pearson and Cronk were the cruiser victors.
Bob Airhart started on the front row and led the first half of the IMCA modified feature. Then Dave Farren Sr. passed him and led the rest of the race. Rod Scheuermann finished second, Airhart third, and Rex Parkison was fourth.
In the IMCA stock car main, Keith Knap took the early lead from the poll, but spun on lap four allowing Dan Sackett to move to the front. Sackett was able to hold off the challenge of Mike Todd and Steve Jackson for the victory. Todd was second, Jackson third, and David Cirksena narrowly edged Jerry McElderry for fourth.
In the claim area, Knop claimed the engine in Cirksena’s car. Cirksena walked over to Knop’s vehicle, initiated a brief scuffle until track officials intervened. Cirksena refused to sell his engine. According to IMCA rules, he will be heavily penalized, including a $1,000 fine.
Twenty-six IMCA hobby stocks crowded on the racetrack for the feature. Jeremy Embrey led the first two laps, but it was Don Wear who set the pace for the rest of the race. Following Wear to the checkered were Randy Embrey, Jason Murray, and Mike Pruitt. This was Wear’s third win of the season.
Bob Morgan led all 12 laps of the dwarf car feature to capture his third win of the year. Mike Morrill started ninth and finished second with Jim Lacey third and Cliff Barber fourth. Randy Bryan won the Heartland Axle Trophy Dash.
In the cruiser feature, the duo of Pearson and Cronk took the lead on the second lap and led to the finish. Finishing second was the team of Meyer and Meyer, who had won the six previous cruiser features.
Racing continues in all classes next Sunday with gates opening at 4:30 P.M., hot laps at 6:15, followed by racing competition. The track phone is
