STUART WINNERS: SCHEUERMANN, HUNTER, BAKER, AND LUND

Stuart, Iowa (July 30, 2000) – Four of five features Sunday night at the Stuart Speedway were run without a caution flag, but the IMCA stock car feature had several yellow flags and the race was stopped when Jerry McElderry’s car rolled. By the end of the evening, Rod Scheuermann won his fifth IMCA modified feature as Shane Hunter received his third dwarf car win and the pair of Day and Cole claimed their third cruiser feature. Tim Baker won the IMCA stock car feature and Jerid Lund won the IMCA hobby stock main.
Chris Pruitt positioned his IMCA modified in the front and led two-thirds of the 20-lap feature. On lap 13, Rod Scheuermann passed Pruitt and withstood his challenge for the victory. Pruitt did finish second with Ron Bash third and Bobby Bowman in fourth.
In the IMCA stock car feature, Ken Johnson took the early lead then went high in turn four on lap three, allowing Monty Knode and Tim Baker to pass him. On a restart of the ninth lap of the 15-lap feature, Tim Baker passed Knode and claimed the victory with Knode second, Ron Goodwin third, and Johnson fourth.
The IMCA hobby stock main was dominated by Jerid Lund who started from the pole and led start-to-finish with a large lead. Randy Embrey, whose engine broke down on the last lap coasted in for second as Jeffery Bailey finished third with Don Wear in fourth. After the race, Todd Cooper claimed Embrey’s carburetor.
Shane Hunter shot his dwarf car from the second row into the lead at the drop of the green and led until the checkered was thrown. Finishing behind him were Shawn Edwards, Rick Dennis and Cliff Barber.
The cruisers feature went to the pair of Day and Cole.
Racing continues in all classes next Sunday with gates opening at 4:30 P.M., hot laps at 6:15, followed by racing competition. The track phone is
