Derry & McElderry Repeat at Stuart Speedway

Stuart, Iowa -- After going 13 years without a feature victory, George Derry
led all 20 laps to win his second straight IMCA modified feature at the
Stuart Speedway on Sunday. In the IMCA stock car competition, Jerry
McElderry also repeated last week's win. For the fourth time this year,
Cliff Barber won the dwarf car feature and Frank Grove won a hobby stock
main. Keith Williamson won the other hobby stock race and the cruiser
feature was won by Steve Renslow and Chad Waddell.
It was Heartland Co-op Night as Derry used his front row starting position to
his advantage in the IMCA modified feature. Derry held off challenges by
Leon Daggett, John Mylan, and Rex Parkison before pulling away from the
field. Joe College finished second, Terry Pruitt third, and Paul Chumos was
fourth.
Jerry McElderry led all 15 laps of the IMCA stock car main finishing ahead of
Erick Knutsen, Ron Godwin, and Jeff Schmitz.
In the first IMCA hobby stock feature, Frank Grove passed Brady McDonald
halfway through the race and took the checkered first. Randy Embrey was
second, McDonald third, and Ben Hoesing was fourth. in the second hobby
stock feature, Jason Murray was passed by the eventual winner, Keith
Williamson, who started eighth. Following his car was Jim Wetzel, Damon
Murty, and Don Wear. The A to Z Rental Trophy Dash was won by Wear
Todd Shute took the early lead in the dwarf main that was slowed down by four
caution flags. Cliff Barber took the lead on lap 8 and ran away with the
race. Finishing in the top four with Barber -- Randy Bryan, Shane Hunter,
and Rick Dennis. The Heartland Truck Exchange trophy Dash was won by Shute.
Steve Renslow and Chad Waddell passed Ganoe and Shawn Phippen to win the
cruiser feature.
Racing continues in all classes next Sunday with gates opening at 4:30 P.M.,
hot laps at 6:15, and competition at 7:00.
