PRUITT, JACKSON, AND MURTY WIN AT THE STUART SPEEDWAY

Stuart, Iowa (August 20, 2000) – Terry Pruitt won the IMCA modified feature Sunday night at the Stuart Speedway. Steve Jackson took the IMCA stock car main as Damon Murty won the IMCA hobby stock feature. The dwarf car race went to Shane Hunter and duo of Meyer and Meyer won the cruiser feature.
Ron Bash jumped into the lead of the IMCA modified feature from his front row position and put plenty of room between him and the pack. However, a caution flag bunched up the field and gave the second place car of Terry Pruitt and the third place car of Dave Farren a chance for the lead. Both of them challenged Bash with Pruitt passing him on lap seventeen. Farren tried the low groove to pass Pruitt, but was unable to gather him in. The top three after Pruitt was Farren, Bash, and Rod Scheurmann.
Dan Sackett was the early leader in the IMCA stock car feature. On lap three, Ronnie Godwin passed Sackett, then Steve Campbell passed Godwin on lap six. Campbell looked the likely winner, then coming out of turn four on the last lap, Steve Jackson edged by Campbell for the win. Campbell was second with Tim Baker third and Mike Todd fourth.
Chad Waddell led the first two laps of the IMCA hobby stock feature and Damon Murty led the final ten laps. Finishing behind Murty was Larry Embrey, Nyle Godwin, and Josh Reynolds. After the race, Jim Wetzel claimed Larry Embrey’s engine.
Tim Love led the first lap of the dwarf car feature and Fred Schimmels led the next two laps. On lap four, Shane Hunter passed him and led the rest of the race with Cliff Barber and Ed Zehm chasing him to the checkered flag and finishing second and third respectively. Alan Van Gorp was fourth. Todd Shute won the Midwest Axle trophy dash.
Racing continues in all classes next Sunday with gates opening at 4:30 P.M., hot laps at 6:15, followed by racing competition. The track phone is
