STUART CHAMPIONSHIP WINS TO PRUITT, BAKER, EMBREY AND BARBER

by DAVID WILKINSON

Stuart, Iowa (September 3, 2000) – The last night of racing was great at the Stuart Speedway Sunday as the season championships were run in front of a large crowd on a beautiful night.

Terry Pruitt moved his IMCA modified into the lead ahead of pole sitter Dave Farren, but Farren challenged him for much of the race. Farren moved his car beside Pruitt twice, but was unable to pass him. The fourteenth lap was restarted after Bobby Bowman sprayed oil on the track as his car stopped. On the restart, Rod Scheuermann passed Farren using the low groove and passed Pruitt by a bumper for one lap. Pruitt and Scheuermann approached the finish line side-by-side for three laps with Pruitt leading each time. Finally, Pruitt pulled a car length ahead and took the checkered first followed by Scheuermann, Farren, and Joe College. Dave Farren won the modified points championships by six points over Pruitt.

In the IMCA stock car feature, Tim Baker moved into the lead from the pole and was challenged by Steve Campbell for the entire race. Campbell looked slightly faster, but was unable to get around Baker. The finishing order was Baker, Campbell, Mike Todd, and Ron Godwin. Baker won the points championship with Campbell second.

The IMCA hobby stock event was a father and son finish with Randy Embrey winning and Jeremy Embrey following in second. Mike Pruitt was third and Kurt Mueller fourth. Randy Embrey won the season point championship for the second straight year. Pruitt finished second in points.

Cliff Barber led the dwarf car main from start to finish. Shane Hunter was second with Todd Shute finishing third and Mike Morrill was fourth. For the fifth year in a row, Cliff Barber won the dwarf car points. Mike Morrill finished second in points.

The twelfth time this season, the team of Meyer and Meyer won the cruiser feature with Coon and McLaughlin finishing second. Meyer and Meyer won the points championship with Day and Cole finishing second in total points.

Racing is finished for the year 2000 at the Stuart Speedway. Racing in 2001 will begin in April.
